Glorious Garter: New Dimensions to a Basic Stitch

(Half-Day—3 Hours: Basic Approaches)

(Full-Day Workshop—6 Hours: Basic Approaches Plus  Advanced Techniques)

The lowly Garter Stitch has been relegated long enough to life as the “Beginner’s Stitch”. The Garter has many attributes and qualities which make it an ideal stitch for the designer.

Learn how to “think Garter”. Watch how it can be used as the basic component to garment structure, as a design feature, and for multi-directional knitting. Incorporate Garter Stitch into colour knitting and as a component of other stitch patterns.

Just Drop It! Working with Wrapped and Dropped Stitches

(Half-Day Workshop--3 Hours: Basic Approaches)

(Full-Day Workshop—6 Hours: Basic Approaches Plus Elaborate Stitch Patterns and Designing with Wrapped and Dropped Stitches)

Wrapping and dropping stitches have become an easy way to add interest and excitement to your knitting.

In the workshop, we will work a sampler so that we can experiment with the different varieties of wrapped and dropped stitches. We will look at how we can incorporate these design features into our knitting.

Bias Knitting with a Difference: The Lady of the Forest Wrap

(Full-Day Workshop: 6 Hours)

In the Lady of the Forest wrap, bias knitting provides the structure and drape that give this design its unique styling. Learn the various features of bias knitting, as used in this pattern, and how it can be adapted to your own uses. Learn, too, how to add the finishing touches to complete the design.

Once you understand the principles of bias knitting, you can begin to use the template of the Lady of the Forest to create a design of your own.

Skill Level: Advanced beginner and intermediate knitters
