I-cord is a simple technique that has a thousand and one applications.

Here it is as a piece of knitted jewellery. But it can just as easily be used as an appliquéd decoration on a garment. It can be added as a border trim, providing a clean finish. I-cord also makes excellent laces. Your imagination will come up with more ideas for using I-cord, once you master the technique.

Directions:

With a pair of double pointed (or circular) needles, cast on 2 or more stitches. Knit one row.

*Without turning the work, return to the beginning of the row. Pull the yarn tightly from the end and k the row again( i.e. the same 2 or more stitches). Repeat from * until your I-cord reaches the desired length. Return to the beginning of the row and bind off.

Sew in each loose end.
