Tapestry Study Stage 2

The study piece for the tapestry is progressing.
Last week-end I added the next section: the beginning of shoreline. I am enjoying adding more colours and seeing the piece evolve into something more recognizeable. Hints of green and the browns and golds of the rock-strewn shoreline.
I am working with manageable lengths--as Kaffe Fasset calls them--instead of bobbins. There are just too many colours across any given row so that bobbins would be too interfering. With manageable lengths, I can easily pull each one out as I need it.

There are still a lot of wonky stitches, due to the twisting of yarns for the intarsia method as well as working with different weights of yarn. These I will correct later with a little pulling and stretching of yarn at the back of the work. Then I expect that a little creative duplicate stitching and blocking will look after the rest.
All this is still very much a learning process. There will be things about this study that I will keep and things I will discard when I work on the main tapestry.
I particularly like the mineral look of the rocky shore. There seems to be a better intermingling of the different tones here.

I am looking forward to this long week-end to do some more work on this. Dare I hope--even finish it?
Have a wonderful Labour Day week-end, everyone!
