Leafy Glen

Here is "Leafy Glen", a design commissioned by Clara Parkes of Knitter's Review for her recent book, The Knitter's Book of Wool.
When Clara invited me to participate in her book all about wool, she asked for a lightweight shell, something that could be worn in the spring and summer. The yarn she suggested was Fleece Artist's Sea Wool, 70% merino, 30% sea cell.
I had actually worked with Sea Wool before, using it in the In the Courtyard vest pattern. I loved this yarn so I was happy to have a chance to work with it again. It is gentle enough to be worn directly against the skin.

Leafy Glen is worked in a leafy lace pattern that follows the natural curves of the feminine form. Demure with its high, square neckline, it still offers allure with its openwork patterning. Waist shaping is formed by changing needle sizes.

Both front and back are worked alike, with sizing from XS to 2X.
Clara's book, The Knitter's Book of Wool, is sub-titled "The Ultimate Guide to Understanding, Using, and Loving this Most Fabulous Fiber". I didn't need convincing. I already love wool and all its outstanding properties. But if you still need convincing, Clara's book will do the job.

In her usual, thorough, articulate, and gracious way, Clara describes all the information you will ever need to know about wool: the different breeds of sheep, the characteristics of each and the fleece they produce, how it is transformed into wool fibre and how it can be used in many different ways.
To top it off, she has gathered together a collection of knitting patterns that then goes on to put into practice all the virtues of wool that she has been extolling.
This is a book for your knitter's reference shelf.
Congratulations, Clara!
