Portside in Noro

I am very lucky to have some wonderful test knitters. One of them is Carman King who knits many of the store samples for his wife's yarn shop, LK Yarns. This stunning version of Portside is now on display there.

Louise King uses these test-knitting opportunities to showcase the yarns she carries in her LYS. So she seldom uses the same yarns that I have used. It is always a surprise to see what she comes up with. I haven't seen her make a mis-step yet.

For the Portside pattern, Louise had a wide range of choices. And I know she had a delightful time pouring over all the possibilities. When I saw the result in their finished version, I was amazed. I absolutely loved it and, of course, wanted to photograph it to share with you.

For the Main Colour (MC), she picked Malabrigo Sock Yarn in the colour "Violeta Africana". The multi-coloured contrasting colour (CC) is Noro's Silk Garden Sock, colour no. S264. The gradual self-striping action of the Noro yarn is a perfect match for this design.

I am impressed, too, that Louise and Carmen didn't try to match up the stripes in each of the panels. The randomness of the colour sequence adds to the movement and drama of the tunic.

Many thanks for your work on this design, Carman and Louise!
