Lake of the Woods in Kauni

The gentlest, most refined of my Kauni Collection designs has to be the Lake of the Woods.

Partly it's the colourway, Kauni EN , which I have called "Queen Anne's Lace". Partly it's the stitch pattern, the ever popular Feather and Fan Stitch, worked in a varying sequence of row repeats.

The Queen Anne's Lace colourway gives this piece its subtle elegance, accentuated by the undulating rhythmn of the stitch pattern. Worked from the lower edge to the neckline with self-finishing borders, this project is a satisfying, relatively quick knit. To watch the colours gradually change adds to the delight of knitting this capelet.

Julie Rosvall of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, knit this version of the Lake for me. She herself did not realize how beautiful this piece was because she gave it to me in its unblocked state (as I had requested). I like to do the blocking myself. And once I released the Lake from its blocking wires and pins, even I was surprised and amazed by the result.

Finding the perfect matching buttons gave it the finishing touch.

This capelet is so light--like a souffle--yet warm.

The Lake of the Woods kit (yarn plus pattern) is available for $49.00 CAD.

You can browse the Kauni Yarn page for other colour options.
This capelet can change its mood according to the colourway you choose--all the way from subtle to dramatic.
