Lady of the Forest in Kauni

My introduction to Kauni Effekt yarn was knitting the Lady of the Forest in Kauni EH, a subtle combination of charcoal, deep to warm browns, to blue. I named this colourway "Earth and Sky", because it reminded me of those two planes of our world.
It turned out to be the perfect yarn to show off the unique construction of the Lady. It was so much fun to knit, as each colour gradually changed and moved into its next new version. The result is subtle, rather than harshly delineated, stripes.

Working the fronts and then the bottom band and neckband had the colours moving in yet other directions. I was fascinated to see what the yarn would do next.

And it didn't seem to matter. No matter where in the ball I began the next section, it seemed to be the right spot. And yet I know if I were to knit another Lady, even if it were in the same colourway, I would not be able to duplicate this one.
My Kauni Lady of the Forest has become one of my favourite things to wear: over a jacket or on its own. It is light (takes a little more than 200 g. of the Kauni yarn) and warm while being comfortable and elegant to wear.

You can make one of your own, in any of the Kauni colourways available. If you already have the pattern, you will need 2 balls of the Kauni yarn. With the PayPal shopping cart now in place, you can order these directly from the website. Just click on the link of your choice:
