Fire and Fable Glass Beads

Yesterday on one of my not-infrequent jaunts to the Tangled Skeins Yarn Shop in Dartmouth, I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful glass artist, Jennifer May.
She creates her own glass beads, in her basement studio. And they are pure delight!

Jennifer fashions the beads herself, in what sounded to me to be a rather complicated, not to mention dangerous, process. She then uses her each-one-of-a-kind beads to make jewellery.

Gorgeous necklaces, playful bracelets, earrings--and stitch markers! Needless to say, I walked away with some of those. There is a limited supply at Tangled Skeins. And no wonder. They are too beautiful to last long.
I have shamelessly borrowed these photos of Jennifer's work from her website/blog which you can go and visit to see for yourself.

Jennifer and I immediately connected when we shared our mutual admiration for glass artist Dale Chihuly, whose organic, dynamic glass sculptures can make your soul spin, they are so beautiful.
We, too, have an artist in our midst. And I haven't mentioned yet that she is a wonderful knitter--and dyer--as well. You can purchase some of her handdyed yarn at Tangled Skeins.
Jennifer is hosting a Christmas sale at her studio on Wednesday, 10 December from 11:30 AM -1:30 PM. Address details, etc. are on her website/blog.
I have marked my calendar...
