Basket of Fun

The Trunk Show at the Basket of Yarn Yarn shop on Saturday turned out to be a lot of fun.

It was the shop's Christmas Open House and people kept arriving all day. I was there from 1:00 to about 4:30 PM and it was non-stop chatting, showing everyone my newest designs, trying on garments, comparing yarn options, and generally discussing the joy of knitting. And did I mention eating?

It was the perfect way to spend a perfect, sunny Saturday afternoon.

Here I am with Susan Doyle, the vivacious owner of the Basket of Yarn.

This well-appointed yarn shop is tucked away in a beautiful part of Nova Scotia, about half an hour's drive outside Halifax. If you look carefully through the window in the above photo, you'll see that the shop is situated on a gorgeous lake, with nothing but trees and sky to form the view. It is definitely worth the drive. A place to relax and renew the spirit, not to mention the yarn stash.

Speaking of yarn stash: Susan has yarns from all over: Noro, Debbie Bliss, Malabrigo, Louet, Lucy's Neatby's Celestial Merino, Lopi, and much more. Lots of patterns, too, and all the usual necessary knitting accoutrements.

Susan has also worked up several of my designs and it was fascinating to see what she came up with.

Here you can see her version of Manon , a colourful rendition worked in Noro Silk Garden Lite . Really joyful. On the display stand is one the Diamonds on the Diagonal scarves.

Let me know if you are planning a visit. I'll probably want to tag along....
