Still Life with Yarn

It was no ordinary bouquet which greeted me at the Shall We Knit yarn shop in New Hamburg over a week ago.
I had been invited there to give the Glorious Garter workshop. The table had also been prepared for the lunch which we were about to enjoy as well.
And embellishing it all--as though the shop needed further embellishment with all the gorgeous yarns on display--was this glorious celebration of colour--and yarn! Yes, look closely and you will see that added ingredient which makes it special.

I had heard of decorating with yarn before. I have been known to put together a basket of colourful yarn and leave it about the house, carelessly, as though by accident. But I had never thought to insert it into a bouquet of fresh flowers. What genius!
This inspiring creation comes from the mind of floral designer, Stephanie Dietrich, of Gethsemane Gardens, in Waterloo, Ontario. Go see her gallery of designs and be prepared to be moved by their beauty.
