Orchids of the North
Look at what arrived yesterday. Irises! Not for me, but for my lovely mother whose love of flowers is well known in these parts. But lucky me, I get to enjoy them, too.
They are too early for the garden, but not for the table. And we will be enjoying them as long as we can.
I, of course, am completely intrigued by their colour and want to knit something in the colour of irises right away. This intriguing colour
, something not fully blue, not fully purple, but a combination known only to this "Orchid of the North". Although irises come in yellow and white and lavender, even a shade of pink, it is this mysterious colour that I think of when I think "iris".So I went looking in my yarn collection and, sure enough, there was a colour in Celestial Merino , a new colour called "Viola". It is a new colour that I am just beginning to stock and have yet to add to my website. Here is it complimented by a touch of yellow ("Sunbeam") and its sister colour, "Deep Purple".
