Jared Flood Book

Ever since I dscovered his blog, Brooklyn Tweed, I have been an admirer of Jared Flood's knitting--and photogaphy.
So I was particularly excited to learn that he had published his first collection of knitting patterns with Classic Elite entitled Made in Brooklyn.
Jared has become well known in the knitting community for his exquisitely executed pieces and his enthusiasm for all things classical in knitting. Following his work feels like coming home to me. Back to knitting's roots.
He prefers 100% wool, rustic fibres in neutral, often undyed, colours.
He explores traditional techniques, like fair-isle, stranded knitting.

This sweater harkens back to the Cowichan sweaters of British Columbia.

He plays with beautiful stitch patterns.

His shapes are classical, too. His work reminds me so often of Elizabeth Zimmerman, whose influence he often acknowledges.

And then there is his photography, fresh, clean, uncluttered, beautifully lit with natural light, the focus always on the knitted work.

His photography carries his signature, enhancing the beauty of the knitting traditions which he so obviously loves.
