Tangled Skeins is Closing

It is always a sad day whenever a yarn shop closes. But it is a particularly sad one when that shop is Tangled Skeins in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
The Halifax metro area has been able to boast three excellent yarn shops in the area. Unfortunately Tangled Skeins will no longer be one of them. As of the end of this month, Sheryl, the owner, will be closing her doors for the last time.

Over the past six years, Tangled Skeins has offered a wonderful haven to knitters and yarn enthusiasts of all kinds. Sheryl's exquisite eye for colour, display and styling is unerring. Always a delight to visit, with a welcoming and relaxed ambience. There was even a cozy space with chairs and books and yarn close at hand for knitters to sit and knit.
Many of us will miss our regular jaunts to Tangled Skeins.
For me, though, there is another, very personal reason why Tangled Skeins is close to my heart. Because Sheryl's was the first shop to buy my patterns, back in 2005. At that time I was selling my patterns only as wholesale to yarn shops. And I knew that Sheryl carried the same yarns that I had been using in those first designs.
It was her enthusiasm for my designs and her encouragement that made me feel that I could actually call myself a knitting designer. I can still remember how I felt leaving her shop that day, with my first cheque in my hand.
Then the next time I went back to Tangled Skeins, only some days later, there was her version of the Lady of the Forest.

Sheryl had knit it up in no time and had the sample on display in her shop.
Thank you for your encouragement, Sheryl. Good luck to you in your new adventures!
