Using a variation of the Ruching Stitch, the Peru Scarf is constructed like a column, with narrow and wider sections. The handpainted yarn of the wide sections contrasts with the solid-coloured narrow bands.

Detailed instructions for making the playful pom-poms are included.

The sample pictured is knit with Lucy Neatby’s Celestial Merino, 100% wool, 2-ply fingering weight (280 m./306 yds. per 100 g. skein), Main Colour: “Blue Vesuvius”; Contrast Colours: “Deep Purple”, “Scarlet”, “Royal Blue”, and “Turquoise”.
