Greece
Recalling the varied hues of the Aegean Sea, the Greece Scarf reminds us of
a culture that lives surrounded by a warm sea. The white houses of the towns
and villages built into the cliffs and hillsides along its shores contrast
with the deep blues of the waters below.
The Greece Scarf, worked from one end to the other in an easy-to-remember
lacy stitch, makes the most of a self-striping yarn. The stitch pattern creates
an undulating effect, causing the colours to resemble waves along a beach.
The pattern includes instructions for two versions of this design: as a scarf
(as pictured) or as a full-sized shawl.
The sample pictured is knit with Schoppel-Wolle Ambiente,
100% merino (155 m./170 yds. per 50 g. ball), colour 1861.
